Our teamwork on surgical instrument tracking (led by Mobarakol) was selected for oral presentation at MICCAI 2019, Shenzhen. Another paper on Robot-Assisted Surgery Using Multi-Domain CNN led by Qiu Liang was also selected for a workshop presentation and HTL journal publication.

Our team project, Skullbot, lead by Xiao, Kirthika, Catherine and Drs Nic & Ren, won the TAP (technology acceleration program) award with 200,000, for the further project development in medical applications.
Our research prototypes on medical robotics were presented during Innovfest Suzhou 2019 (http://www.innovfestchina.com/), which is a leading international Innovation and Entrepreneurship Festival in China.
Dr. Ren delivered an invited keynote at ICIRA’19, the 2019 International Conference on Intelligent Robotics and Automation, on the topic of Collaborative soft and continuum robots, at Shenyang, China.
Dr. Ren was invited to talk at ASME AIM workshop on soft and medical robotics at Hong Kong, in conjunction with The 2019 IEEE/ASME Flagship International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM 2019) and our teamwork won a poster award.
Our team members, Kirthika Senthil, and Catherine Cai won 1 Gold Award and 2 Bronze Awards for BES Research Presentation at Biomedical Engineering Society 13th Scientific Meeting, for the projects in sensing device for medical applications.
Dr. Ren delivered A plenary talk at ICMSR’19, the 5th International Conference on Mechatronics System and Robots (ICMSR 2019), on the topic of Multi-modality medical sensing based intelligent theranostics.
Dr. Ren received the Young Investigator award cum best paper award during ICBHI2019, International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics 2019, in Taipei City, for the research in smart surgical robotics.
Our research publication on a flexible manipulator was presented during IEEE ROBOSOFT 2019 (IEEE International Conference on Soft Robotics (RoboSoft), robosoft 2019, COEX, Seoul, Korea, April 14~18, 2019) and Dr. Ren served as the session chair for the soft manipulation session.
