Positions for part-time undergraduate Research Assistants (RA)

The part-time research positions are to support a funded project on the study of a computer integrated surgery system. The successful applicants will involve hands-on development for surgical robot prototype or surgical navigation system study based on their backgrounds. The successful applicants will also be exposed to the other interesting research projects in surgical robotic system development.

Position Responsibilities:

Assist in the development of a computer integrated surgery system.
Closely collaborates with the PI and other research assistants throughout the study.
Write experiment reports.
Learn to manage the project.

Qualifications:

Prior clinical knowledge is not required but would be a plus.
Experience with mechanical design or computer programming.
Self-motivated.
Willing to learn and work independently.
Strong problem-solving, interpersonal, and analytic skills.

Research Fellowship (Postdoctoral Fellowship) in Robotics Engineering (Tactile, Control & Mechatronics)

Project Description
The Bimanual Dexterous Manipulation Consortium of the SINAPSE Institute is interested in
recruiting well trained, talented, skilled and highly motivated individuals to work under diverse programs in the areas of Sensors, Robotics, Mechatronics, Control Systems and Signal Processing but with a common goal and theme.
 
Job Description      
At the present time we have a need for several postdoctoral fellows with expertise in several of the key areas:
 

    • Sensor fabrication
    • Flexible robot development
    • Soft robotics design, fabrication and/or control
    • Intelligent control
    • Fabrication of scalable arrays of high density
    • Sampling and compression techniques
    • Fault tolerant system architectures and algorithms
    • Circuit design and embedded systems
    • Feature extraction and learning algorithms (spiking neural networks, convolutional neural networks, extreme learning machines)
    • Fault diagnosis and fault tolerant control

The selected candidate must have exceptional analytical abilities, very strong programming skills and outstanding hardware skills. The Fellow will be expected to publish several journal papers per year in high impact factor journals.

Research Positions in Robotics at NUS

We are looking for qualified research assistants, research associates or research fellows who have strong interests of applying engineering approaches to medicine. Specifically, our group is focusing on Computer Integrated Interventional Systems (CIIS), Surgical Navigation and Planning systems, Robotic and Sensing in Medicine, and Biomedical Mechatronics. We are seeking highly motivated researchers to perform research on robotics in surgery and productivity available immediately. The openings are for several sub-projects related to cognitive robotics, visual servoing, mechatronics and target tracking. Priority will be given to those who want to further pursue PhD degree in NUS. One can enroll as a part-time PhD student with the same PhD graduation requirements as a normal PhD student.
The perspective researchers will work with an interdisciplinary team consists of researchers from the NUS Advanced Robotics Center, A-STAR, biomedical scientists and surgeons from National University Hospital and Singapore Institute for Neurotechnology (SINAPSE).

Graduate Intern Research Opportunities

The research group of Medical Mechatronics at the Department of Biomedical Engineering of National University of Singapore is seeking highly motivated Graduate Intern Researchers at Ph.D candidate or MS level from reputable universities. The recruited researchers will perform research on medical robotics (e.g., surgery and rehabilitation) and involve several sub-projects related to robotics, visual servoing, target tracking, signal processing, system integration etc.
The perspective researchers will work with an interdisciplinary team consists of researchers from the NUS Advanced Robotics Center, A*STAR, biomedical scientists and surgeons from National University Hospital. In addition, you will be expected to contribute to published deliverables in the area of medical robotics.

[QUALIFICATIONS]
– Graduate candidate and has finished basic course requirements. Typically, the perspective intern will be part of your PhD/Master program and be a registered graduate student during your perspective internship.
– Must be able to commit for at least 1 year and the longer period is preferred
– Major in one or more of the following fields: Computer Vision, Visual Servoing, Mechatronics, Robotics, Signal Processing, Applied Mathematics or equivalent.
– Preferred but not required if has additional funding (or equivalents); Please state if you are going to be supported by any scholarships from your home university during your internship.
