By tapping on<br \/>\nthe capabilities of MIS, this paper aims to design a new<br \/>\ntendon Fixation mechanism which utilizes springs to actuate<br \/>\nsurgical tools for the removal of osseous giant cell tumor.<br \/>\nWe presents our preliminary design conceptualization and<br \/>\nprototype development using spring backbone and tendon-<br \/>\ndriven mechanism. By investigating different tendon routing<br \/>\nmechanisms, for the \ufb01rst time this study shows that it is<br \/>\npotentially feasible to accomplish needle-size (outer diameter<br \/>\nof 1 mm) to catheter-size (outer diameter of 2-3 mm) single-<br \/>\nchannel surgical instruments for minimally invasive surgery.<br \/>\nThrough this mechanism, it is expected that our surgical robot<br \/>\ncan provide completeness of tumor removal through a minimal<br \/>\nincision without compromising oncological principles<\/p>\n<h2>More Information:<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/publication\/320637307_Pilot_study_and_design_conceptualization_for_a_slim_single-port_surgical_manipulator_with_spring_backbones_and_catheter-size_channels\">Full Text<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Abstract: Robotic assistance in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) have extended the capabilities of surgeons via improved precision dexterity and computer assistance.
